Some Hints for Playwrights:
- In plays the story is told through speech and actions rather than description. Avoid narrators.
- Stage directions are helpful, but information told through dialogue creates a better play.
- Limit your characters to fewer than ten.
- In the theatre you cannot switch from one elaborate setting to another the way you can in movies and television. Remember that what you write must be shown on a stage.
- Look over a play script to see how a play is typed.
